Marian-Stiegeler

Marian Stiegeler

Marian graduated from Capella University with a Master’s of Science Degree in Mental Health in January of 2016.  She worked as a Child and Family Therapist at Willamette Family Inc. from 2016-2018.  In July of 2016, Marian went back to graduate school to pursue a second master’s certification in play therapy.  Marian graduated from that program with a Master’s Certification in Play Therapy and will be a Registered Play Therapist once requirements are submitted to the board.

Marian began her private practice in 2018, Avodah Therapy services. Marian has certifications in cognitive behavioral therapy, filial therapy, and is a Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider as well as a Registered Play Therapist.  She has had training in modalities that include internal family systems, cognitive behavioral play therapy, child-centered play therapy, solution-focused therapy, family systems therapy, prescriptive therapy, experiential therapy, interpersonal neurobiology, mindfulness, strategic therapy, person-centered therapy, REBT and EMDR.

Marian’s philosophy with treatment is a holistic approach that treats the root cause, not just the symptoms, and that the parents are the therapeutic influence in the child’s life.  They should be empowered to help their children long-term, so she teaches the parents how to do what she does with the kids.  She believes in alternative methods of therapy such as canine assisted therapy, art therapy, group therapy, music therapy, and various forms of play therapy.

Ceaser

Marian Stiegeler, LPC, CMHIMP has a therapy dog, Ceaser, who joins her in session.  He is a 93lb, purebred white German Shepherd, born on 3/4/2014.  He is specially trained to work with children and adolescents in therapy and knows specific commands for doing so.  He has very special training for this particular job and adds a level to therapy that is quite dynamic. Ceaser loves his job and puts his own collar on to go to work in the morning.

Hope

Hope, born August 30, 2020, is Ceaser’s daughter and is half white German Shepherd and half Chocolate Lab. She is still in training to be a therapy dog, although the sweetness and love necessary for the role come naturally for her. She loves playing with the clients, as well as sharing her calm when the situation calls for it (she gets that from her father). Hope is one of the sweetest puppies one could ever cuddle with and brings a dynamic to therapy that is incredible.

Sophie

Sophie, born  is a half Maine Coon, half domestic medium hair kitty that assists in therapy at the center. Sophie has been working with children and families since she was 12 weeks old. She loves her job and loves showering the clients with attention, snuggles, and love. She has extremely soft fur and eyes that are mesmerizing. She is a huge asset to the therapeutic process.

Joy

Joy is Sophie’s daughter, born April 28, 2022. Joy was not a planned addition to the counseling team, but boy is she a welcomed addition. Sophie got out one day and came home with a little surprise, little Joy growing in her tummy. There were complications and Joy had to be born via C-Section at the emergency veterinary hospital. It was touch and go for both, but we have our miracle therapy kitten, our little bundle of Joy. Joy loves doing therapy so much she puts herself in her own carrier in the morning so she won’t be forgotten that day, not that she ever could be. She puts a smile on all who meet her and brings calmness and joy to everyone she meets.
